Klikkit button mounted on weekly medicine dosage box

A digital platform for patient activation, monitoring and support. Klikkit consists of a number of smart trackers (the buttons), an optional patient’s app, an optional gateway for data transfer (the Klikkit hub) and the Klikkit remote dashboard.

Purpose

Buttons and app help patients create positive medication routines, build motivation and benefit from the support of their family. The Klikkit dashboard provides care organizations with a tool to monitor, stratify and support patients remotely and in real time.

Target group

Chronic patients and elderly with a pharmacological or non-pharmacological treatment plan. Care professionals responsible for the delivery of care to a patient population (e.g. hospitals and municipalities).

Impact for citizen

Using Klikkit will help the citizen to manage and stay adherent to medication and treatment related activities. Klikkit support patients in building positive habits, making the elderly more independent. Adherence improves the clinical outcome, patient satisfaction and quality of life.

Impact for staff

Implementing Klikkit in retirement homes, home care services and hospitals, helps activating patients in taking ownership of their personal treatment plans. More active and healthy patients require less support, increasing the efficiency of care professionals. The remote and real time monitoring of patient populations through the Klikkit dashboard helps prioritise support calls and visits to critical patients, enabling care professionals to deliver high value services to those for whom human interactions is important.

Economic impact

Studies show that 50% of people with a chronic disease have a hard time following their treatment plans. For one of four patients this is due to forgetfulness. In the US alone, poor adherence is responsible for about 70% of medication related rehospitalizations – with an average cost of $12.500,00 per patient per hospitalisation. Our latest study shows that Klikkit enables an increase in medication adherence up to 38%, potentially having a huge impact on the quality of life for the citizens and reducing significantly the cost of care.
A Danish study shows that Municipalities delivering Home Health Services to senior citizens in average bear a cost of kr. 29.951,00 per citizen per year due to their poor adherence to medication (recurrent nurse visits, hospitalisations and additional health services).
